My 3 Statement Earrings Secrets
You may or may not remember when you first got your ears pierced. I don’t. All I know is that ever since my ears have been pierced, earrings have been a part of my daily routine. Growing up my Mother always told me “make sure you have chapstick and make sure you put on some earrings.”; She still reminds me, although I’m 28. Now as an adult, when I leave my house, I make sure I have my phone, keys, some type of lip moisturizer, and take one last look in the mirror to ensure I am wearing earrings. Without earrings, I sometimes feel naked; I know some of you can resonate with me. I atleast have to have on a pair of my “everyday earrings”: a pair of small hoops or small diamond studs; I don’ really have many options that I would be willing to wear everyday. But my “special occassion” collection on the other hand, is constantly growing!
I’ve been wearing and collecting statement earrings for years, even during a time when they weren’t as popular in my age group. As a young girl, I experienced with the really long feathered ones, even the large and bright clip ons. My jewelry box couldn’t even close! My love for earrings never matched the size of my jewelry box, haha.

I like to make sure that my hair is styled in a way that I want the earrings to be seen. If I want them to make a subtle statement, I will wear my hair in a style so the earrings “peek” through and make a soft appearance (e.g. wearing my hair down). But, if I want them to “arrive” and be seen, I will try and ensure my hair is pulled back and my ears are entirely revealed (e.g. hair bun or high ponytail).
It’s important that I organize my jewelry in a way that I can see everything at once. Jewelry boxes are great, but not for me. I forget what I have because the jewelry is eventually becomes stacked on top of one another. Through many attempts at arranging my jewelry, the hanging organizer is the best jewelry organizing idea. The one I use has different sized pockets that zip, on both sides. The pockets are big enough to fit some of my larger pairs of earrings. I really love this feature of the organizer because it prevents any potential damage that a regular jewelry box would allow. See example here
Lastly, before I leave any clothing store, I stop by their accessories section. And in that section, I look for the clearance earrings first. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gotten some really dramatic earrings on sale for less than $5.00! Don’t let anyone tell you that being bold, sophisticated, and dramatic is expensive; it’s not.

When it comes to pairing earrings with outfits, the only rules you need to remember is that there are none. Yes, try on a few different pairs to see which ones pack the level of punch you want to add to your outfit. My best advice is to wear the ones that YOU literally feel go with your outfit. By connecting the way you feel about a certain set of earrings to your decision to wear them, you could add some serious trend to even the most basic outfit.
